The Writing Center

Anyone can come to the Writing Center

to receive help with his or her writing!

Location: On the library balcony.

Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9–4.

What the Writing Center provides:

·        help with ALL stages of the writing process, including brainstorming topics, writing thesis statements, developing ideas, adding details, organizing paragraphs, and revising drafts.

·        help for ALL kinds of students writing on ALL kinds of topics, including college essays.

Who can make an appointment? Anyone can make an appointment to receive help with his or her writing! Make an appointment on the sign-up sheet, which is posted on the bulletin board by the library stairs, and bring a handout with you that explains the assignment.

What are teacher referrals? Your teacher may ask you to visit the Writing Center to receive extra help on a paper. Make an appointment on the sign-up sheet, and bring a handout with you that explains the assignment.

How the writing session works:  First, I’ll ask you to fill out a form with information about your assignment and what you want help with. Then we’ll read through your paper together. I don’t write or correct your work for you. Instead, I’ll ask questions and we’ll have a conversation about your writing so that you can do the work yourself.  The emphasis is on teaching you skills to make you a stronger writer. It’s up to you as the writer to decide what you want to change.
