The Barbara Gauntlett Scholarship fund was established to provide scholarships to men and women graduating from Burlington High School to enable them to attend college or university or to receive professional or vocational training. The candidates should be United States citizens and upon graduation will have completed two full years of attendance at Burlington High School while residing in Burlington, have proven financial need, and demonstrated ability to benefit from the education for which the scholarship is sought. This year the Barbara Gauntlett will be awarded to four seniors to receive 5,000 dollars a year for the four years they attend college.

BDS Creative Writing Award (April 17,2018)
Please Submit an original piece of creative writing by April 17.( 2018!) to be eligible for the BDS Award.The recipient of this award will receive $300 , an Award Certificate, and recognition at the graduating awards ceremony for outstanding achievement in Creative writing.Please submit one piece to be eligible for the award. It can be a poem, a story, a thought, lyrics., a letter, Any original piece of writing that you are proud of. Work may be handwritten ( be sure it is legible). The piece you choose to submit does not need to have been written and your senior year. It just needs to have been done by you.

Each year Burlington High School offers students scholarships through the school. Here is the link for the application. Students should complete link and scholarships will be given based off the application. There is not individual applications for each scholarship unless stated.
Burlington Rotary Club Foundation Scholarship (April 1, 2018)
Seniors who exemplify the Rotary ideal of “Service above Self” through Community service. Find more information about this scholarship including the application in the guidance office.
CCV Hunter Dandridge Memorial Scholarship (May 4,2018)
For BHS senior who plans on attending Community College of Vermont. For more information regarding this scholarship including the application stop by the guidance office.
Vermont Tech Jimi Grant Scholarship (March 15,2018)
Open to any BHS student who has been accepted and plans to attend Vermont Technical College and who demonstrates financial need. For more information regarding this scholarship and the application please stop by the guidance office.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit #91 (May 1, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: For a Chittenden County High School senior who is a descendant of a veteran. Award based on GPA, community service, and accepted to an accredited college.
Amy Bindelglass Memorial Scholarship (March 30, 2018) Information in Guidance Office: Open to all seniors. Must fulfill the requirements of the challenge stated on the Amy Bindelglass Memorial Scholarship brochure presented by the Center for Donations & Transplant.
Athnet Sports Recruiting Scholarship (June 1, 2018) https://www.athleticscholarships.net/scholarship : We help athletes find opportunities to play college sports and get an athletic scholarship. Girls Nite Out Producations Scholarship (April 9, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: Awarded to a young woman who will complete high school or technical school and who plans to continue her education in the Performing or Technical Theatrical Arts.
Journalism Education Foundation Scholarship (March 9, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: For high school seniors in New England who plan to pursue a career in journalism.
Kiwanis Community Service Award (April 10, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: Awarded to Seniors who attend high school in Chittenden County, has demonstrated involvement in the community and school service activities and has been accepted into any institute of higher learning.
Knights of Columbus Vermont State Council Scholarship (March 10, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: Awarded to sons or daughters of a Knights of Columbus (parental or legal guardian) in good standing who will be furthering their education at an accredited school or college of their choice.
League of Women Voters of VT Education Fund Winona Smith Scholarship (May 1, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: For seniors interested in civic participation and community service, who have a need for financial aid and who is recommended by a teacher.
Member Advantage Community Credit Union- Henry B. Caswell Scholarship (May 3, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: Seniors pursuing post-secondary education at UVM, St. Michael’s, or Champlain. Applicant must be a member of the Credit Union at the time of application.
Metro Swimming Officials Association Memorial Award (April 20, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: For a senior boy or girl high school swimmer/diver. Student is eligible if receiving athletic money from a college university.
Nancy Jenkins Scholarship (May18, 2018) http://www.nancyjenkins.com/Scholarship : For two area high school seniors who have strong desires to continue their education after high school by awarding two $1,000 scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year.
NEACRAO Scholarship (March 15, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: Each year, the New England Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers awards scholarships to three high school graduates who will be enrolling in a NEACRAO member institution for the fall semester of that year. Each high school graduate who is selected is awarded $2,000*. Each recipient of the scholarship is selected from candidates who are recommended by New England secondary school guidance professionals.

The Minute Man Scholarship (March 31, 2018) Letter of Rec from Principal: The Vermont Army National Guard will be granting three qualifying seniors the opportunity to receive a full-ride scholarship to college (up to four years) covered by The Minuteman Scholarship.
The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. (May 1, 2018) http://phillips-scholarship.org/ : The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund offers renewable, four-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, the community or at home), a strong work ethic demonstrated by part-time employment while in school, grit and passion for overcoming obstacles and/or achieving future goals and leadership qualities.

Vermont Lions Hart Memorial Award (March 8, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: Award graduating seniors that have a disability or debilitating illness, either physically or mentally, is in financial need or is planning to attend college upon graduating high school.
VT Association of Educational Office Professionals (April 1, 2018) Application in Guidance Office: For seniors who plan to continue their education in office-related business programs, and who have completed 2 or more business education courses ( 4 semesters).
VT EPSCoR Native American and First Generation Student Scholarship (April 1, 2018) https://www.vtc.edu/scholarship/ : This scholarship program provides scholarships to Vermont students who are Native American or First Generation college students pursuing a STEM major at a Vermont college or university.

ACT Student Champion Award
The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and plan in place. ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition.

The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund offers renewable, four-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, in the community or at home), a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities. High school graduates or current seniors and current college students who meet the criteria are encouraged to apply.

Roger Sheridan Memorial Scholarship
Roger J. Sheridan was a former high school coach, basketball and football official, and an honorary and life member of the Montpelier Lodge of Elks. He will always be known as one of the greatest men in Vermont high school sports. This scholarship has been established for graduating seniors who plan to pursue a career in physical education.
Criteria: Academics, financial need, and desire to achieve.
Awards: Two-$500 each will be awarded to one male & one female.

Red Sox Foundation Scholarship
On behalf of the Red Sox Foundation, I am proud to confirm that Burlington High School is among the 27 schools selected to be included in the New England Red Sox Service Scholarships in Vermont for the 2017-2018 academic year. Last year, we worked with 27 Vermont public high schools last year and are excited to expand our program and work with you and your school this academic year.
Every year the New England Red Sox Service Scholarship will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior attending one of the 27 select Rhode Island public high schools based on 1) Academic Performance, 2) Demonstrated Community Service and 3) Eligibility for Financial Aid. This scholarship award is for public high school seniors pursuing a two-year or four-year degree at any college, university or trade school.
Important Notes for 2018
- Please confirm the point of contact for us for the New England Red Sox Service Scholarship in Rhode Island for your school. We would appreciate if you could provide a name, email and phone number for the contact person.
- We will send you the guidelines and application form for 2018 VT Red Sox Service Scholarship by email on December 1st. They will also be posted on our website at www.redsoxfoundation.org.
- Please note THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Applications received after the deadline will not be reviewed by the Committee.
- At the time of submitting the application, if the student have not received his/her SAR, please ask them to include a copy of the confirmation email received upon submitting the FAFSA and send in their SAR as soon as it becomes available marking with their first & last name, name of school and state in which they are applying from. We will be receiving multiple applications from 200 high schools in New England and will not be able to sort through to identify applicants if they are unmarked.
- Please also make sure that Burlington High School fulfils the requirement to submit at least 3 applications and announce this honor at your school’s awards night next spring. If this is a problem please let us know by Monday, November 27, 2017.
